Proxy Conference: In Forest invites storytellers to sit amongst the circle where beings from different times and geolocations tell each other stories. We gather together in an anonymous forest around the trees and moss. Day into the night, from the falling of sun to the rise of the moon, we share tea, telling forgotten stories. Stories of ghosts finding solace in elusive women, fragmented names only called in boudoirs, reincarnations into mineral and botany for love, young girl's spirit summoned for remembrance, and dreams that are traded with matriarchal wisdoms... In this circle, through listening, you inherent the ‘hidden transcript’ that have always been in us but untold, you then become another storyteller, connected.

Proxy Conference is a process driven project by AFSAR that facilitates modes of collective gathering. For the second edition, the conference is joined by DAVRA, who has been practicing as circles, collectivizing ties of belongingness between practitioners in Central Asia. Together, they explore how stories can serve as a means to intervene the traditional model of political conferences and introduce proxy characters who ignite connections that extend to the audience. AFSAR and DAVRA deploy storytelling and listening as shared methodologies to create a new constellation of herstories.
